At the moment the Spellplague ripped through Halruua, Zephos succeeded in reuniting Myrkul's essence with his chosen vessel. By way of reward, he became Myrkul's Chosen, able to walk between life and death. A century has passed since then, and Zephos has begun to lose what remained of his humanity. His body has become more obviously tainted by diabolic corruption, and it is possible that he will eventually become an infernal entity in his own right. For his part, Zephos travels the land slaying the fallen god of death's enemies, most notably clerics of Cyric and Kelemvor. His daggers have been replaced by the double-scythe Hourglass, which can be split in the middle to serve as a pair of picks. In all things, Zephos is death made flesh, and woe to those who come between him and his quarry.
